{"id":3745,"date":"2022-10-12T08:34:51","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T08:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lowfruits.io\/?p=830"},"modified":"2022-10-12T08:34:51","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T08:34:51","slug":"lowfruits-case-study-site-month-12-did-dims-seo-strategy-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lowfruits.io\/blog\/lowfruits-case-study-site-month-12-did-dims-seo-strategy-work\/","title":{"rendered":"LowFruits Case Study Site, Month 12: Did Dim\u2019s SEO Strategy Work?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s been 12 months since I started a BBQ website called <a href=\"https:\/\/barbehow.com\/\">Barbehow<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And today, we\u2019re looking at where we were at the beginning and where we are now.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s showtime! ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Strategy for the Barbehow SEO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My strategy was simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/lowfruits.io\">LowFruits<\/a> to find <strong>low-competition keywords<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publish <strong>high-quality informational content<\/strong> in the first 6-9 months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the website has topical authority and organic traffic, <strong>monetize <\/strong>it with display ads and commercial content.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I didn't use any other tools to analyze the SERPs or optimize my content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, I <strong>worked with writers<\/strong> from the US and UK <strong>who own grills or smokers themselves<\/strong>, so they can write competently on the subjects of grilling and meat smoking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Did My SEO Strategy Work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where we started and where we are right now:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/E1Jf7Frcwc1pOOffqCiXe_29R9AFkebFnJNWTPX_6-JtsTB9KHpwPRAehUxTDAM5sYBmE8_3goC1a1DkHFpkTBdMlpYCnOiLmoxLUs4dpQhznUgTKYD4RuFbxA9PR-iB53wgqVBCogBnLZzd7H5FipOkqLb1PfAlLP2FYI10imdTRom8J2fLVArKDg\" alt=\"SEO results with LowFruits\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As far as I\u2019m concerned, <strong>the strategy has been working out!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m pleased with the results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I published 131 articles\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Total word count: 155,454<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Average word count: 1,178 per article<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Articles ranking in the first 1-3 positions in the SERPs: 78<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Page views: 20,333 page views per month on average (last 3 months)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monthly revenue: $353.30 per month on average<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Calculating the ROI: Should I Sell the Case Study Website?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll keep the website in my portfolio for the time being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I were to sell it now, the year-to-date revenue and likely sale price combined would <strong>recoup my investment with an ROI of 100%.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How did I come to this number?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suppose you need 2 x 1,000-word articles\/month to keep the lights on and you can source them for $0.04\/word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This puts <strong>the Last 3 Months (L3M) profit<\/strong> at $273.30 and leads to the following valuation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$10,347 at a 38x L3M profit multiple<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$10,892 at a 40x L3M profit multiple<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$11,479 at a 42x L3M profit multiple<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Not bad for a &#8220;side gig&#8221; with a few posts per month, which, were you to try doing the same, you could write yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Note on Seasonality<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We haven't seen the seasonality <em>yet<\/em>, but I expect traffic and revenue to decline in the coming months as we enter fall.
