Pick a Primary Keyword<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In this step, we\u2019re going to refine our keyword list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to pick primary keywords that are <strong>achievable <\/strong>and <strong>relevant<\/strong> to our business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I say \u201cachievable,\u201d I mean keywords our small business can rank for. So often, it\u2019s easy to be attracted to super high-volume keywords. (Been there, done that. Results were dismal.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But unfortunately, that\u2019s not the best strategy for most business owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s because <strong>high-volume keywords have a ton of competition<\/strong>. And unless you\u2019ve got an established online presence and high domain authority, your chances of ranking for that keyword are slim to none.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t want to sound grim, but that\u2019s the reality of organic search in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that there are even more <strong>long-tail keywords that can bring greater value to your site<\/strong>.
