And when it comes to competitor research in LowFruits, there\u2019s no place like the Competition tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, I\u2019ll show you <strong>11 ways to get to know your competitors in LowFruits<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s dive in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#1 Signals: Who Are Your Competitors?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you land in the Competition tab, start with the crucial question: <em>who are my competitors?<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are they affiliate websites?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are they shops?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bloggers?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The \u2018Signals\u2019 column will show you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/xF0-VNI8JVpDd-S0vjhmXZq-MBsEO_qQO0OeHpjE7iY0LfOfVCLklr2XlH1SPWdahfhNI7c8d2wLa9hl2qSQL8-4csAR437Wp2kvMYEIaNefdm7nBXI885Dfp3MY9b_CHS8VHz_K\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Using <strong>the Signals filter is a great way to get a lay of the land<\/strong>, i.e., understand what types of websites work best for the SERP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my case, I\u2019ve looked for competition for the keyword \u201cleather sofa.\u201d Most of my competitors are either shops or affiliates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#2 How Are Your Competitors Making Money?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, I want to know how my competitors make money from their sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll see icons in the main view, but you can also filter by <strong>monetization <\/strong>methods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/rNEpYVSTSEKFuW9Kr-0jgVM76YPx5EwUp3WWNEFJ7N46H1AZ0-NJqsDdhN46W1bN522GLRaZbvMhM5BuP1yMA0vRUtp2DSaqGH2LjZtlaKKJ7JEd71grgqIX7a9fOPF774SGpFg1\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It looks like most of my competitors are either shops or affiliates. Rate it or share your feedback below!<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#5 Find Easy Keywords Your Competitors Target<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the keyword number in the right-hand column to see the keywords that rank in the top 10 spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/fF0m8No4JWm_mUlNK1rX8d8cjr8BqgxrMy1nBeoGkjHcYtftqO55yHYGT2ZzEvSzUW6XETGvZBiAhxdP9JFMsDXtf_rBMXHdE4HvB_olRFOT15sxOFFNv4eIrGVXbPeqbaoGSGBs\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see <strong>weak spots<\/strong> (positions in which they\u2019re ranking) and <strong>the search volume<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on this competitor, I\u2019d check out their content, the SERP, and identify why it\u2019s ranking high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, I\u2019d create something even better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#6 What Are New Websites Doing Right?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you see a new website (not older than three years) that\u2019s ranking, put on your thinking hat. What are they doing right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Filter by \u2018Age\u2019 to find websites that aren\u2019t older than one or three years:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/jYl_Up6iIIQfz4wPLr9WMk-bxTA2JJ9CHzerr7F3mjRB2oD15vr04yFFQtufSHYMQIIkqTgKIK4u0DRP-jglADBv1MiMStdroN8q42ocE7LjeJaIbbTfVMKCKlV3sRF2pUVxB01n\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, analyze the new websites in your space:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What\u2019s their Domain Authority?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What's the website type?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How are they monetizing?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How much traffic do they get?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which keywords do they rank for?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/KrYaC9mx7tsikgzjg1cK_aEnCl0ayOVFvqQgKT3prHX94dl_hxLYNajwo3yaKpnNsuk-bSuML6tKfaVi1WkTOtxZSQxfgLMXz4oGO0olL5MVaWltRu9c8kGicrI6iULMhAwdeHCN\" width=\"539\" height=\"308\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of these new websites in my leather sofa niche is 11 months old. They\u2019re already getting over 500k monthly visits, ranking for \u201care leather couches better for dogs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clicking through to their keywords, I see a weak spot: a 20-DA website ranking in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/OaF9UEYSZ1W6s0BK5rwLkAirwwtYkwMhH1VYDjwkia-QOXEqMX6HRdlVQoR4SMjrHsYHhgeiqitDghza5cRcFK9F6kPdRcRyEZW5G3Xb5PRmYyJk_lZFCLO35CdrStIUeLEnZDm5\" width=\"472\" height=\"146\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#7 Established Websites\u2019 Secret Formulas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find keywords all competitors are ranking for in the Competition tab. And while your small, top-performing competitors are a goldmine of easy keywords, <strong>analyze your bigger competitors\u2019 keyword profiles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Pro tip: Focus on the keywords with weak spots. The more green and blue apple icons, the better!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems Amazon is the king of long-tail searches for my leather sofas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/z-bTRCLA3Ms5DLpR_oHhRG4K-pWT2H2tN5cbtss4gTlGnHqgPR_xLjPWVCul1xIzm5hIRsqZ-aD_rlh-G3gwTG5EM2GPW_l-G0I_uD9T53XwQtRtaw6oal-URBKhueJJhljT2q1j\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For every established website in your Competition tab, look at their keywords and leverage weak spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pay close attention to established websites that fit your niche.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, Amazon sells everything. But Wayfair focuses on home decor, so I\u2019ll spend more time researching their keywords to find low fruits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/dHbPX-HY6fiycwMtJ1EkoMUw-M5r4Xr3nrPxUBBvCgP7t44bkwxJg2FMlrTwijBbBCv1KMinTKXoiJi2dX4_Z0nty0Wh0g_SNNJQprlVr-6IJgtI2Ei65uWOxtHV_YX-oQ_PgRnQ\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#8 Spot AI-Content Websites<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>AI-content websites don\u2019t set out to increase their Domain Authority with quality content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, <strong>they find extremely low-competition keywords<\/strong> (often targeting People Also Ask questions) and use AI to generate content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Find them by filtering for Top Performers or Domain Age.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/pugG9rbL98RGYvJH9jJPll-EjMcgHlDznetIZLTSJgjzGrVT0gpbrXKPIN-JvyXKqb8IAtrhGg5HAIdTliufmMYPCh9lbqNDCk6WQAPVsQyTYD3cEmUdrZn2OASaDQARIMoRvSly\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll spot them because they try to answer every possible question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, because they use AI-generated content, it\u2019ll be much easier for you to outrank them with good blog posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#9 Evaluate Your Competition\u2019s Content Quality<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Are your competitors writing comprehensive guides to the topic, or are they getting by with blog posts and AI-driven content?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Analyze their content and pay attention to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Intent &#8211; Are they producing product pages (transactional intent) or longer content (informational intent)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Length &#8211; Are they creating short blog posts or in-depth guides?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tone &#8211; Do they have a distinct tone of voice?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Substance &#8211; Are they covering every possible question about this topic?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Structure &#8211; Does their content cover that keyword in depth? Do they create guides with FAQs?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s easy to outperform AI content websites. But with legitimate competitors, analyze other SERP results to <strong>identify content gaps<\/strong> they\u2019re plugging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out <strong>social media<\/strong> to find questions your audience is interested in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Create <strong>comprehensive guides with clusters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#10 Weak vs. Strong Website Ratio<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Perform a macro analysis on your niche:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How many websites are established with DA higher than 20?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How many new websites rank well?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How much traffic are new and low-DA websites getting?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are you in a mature niche or a new one?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There should be <strong>at least 5 websites with low Domain Authority<\/strong> that rank well to know that you can compete as a new website.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there are many, study their content and SEO approach. You\u2019ll need to out-do them with even better content.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If 99% of your competitors are <strong>established websites<\/strong>, focus on low-competition keywords.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, take your <strong>niche maturity into account<\/strong>. With mature niches, you\u2019ll need more creative or more comprehensive content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With new niches, focus on comprehensive introductory content and answer questions that your competitors haven\u2019t covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#11 Different Stages &#8211; Different Competitors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As you grow, your competitor pool changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the beginning, focus on Top Performers and other low-DA competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As your topical authority grows with<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lowfruits.io\/what-is-keyword-and-topic-clustering\"> keyword and topic clusters<\/a>, you\u2019ll unlock more profitable keywords.
